NOOOOOOOO! Empty NOOOOOOOO!

Post  Admin Thu Jan 28, 2010 3:04 pm

hi guys, obviously this is off topic right now but soon I will move it.

I have a problem, I ran a program and it seems to have used the vb code: delete file.
the file was a .sys file (system file) and was called nvata.sys and now my PC will NOT load at all. I tried safe-mode, command prompt everything it just goes into the blue screen with an error. I tried restarting, I can't use the setup CD either because it is not me who owns it. I do NOT want to reformat the HDD either because my files aren't backed up. If the CD will work then I will use it as a last resort though so please DO help me!

Thanks, John king

Hi guys, I found the CD but when I run the recovery console I get the following issue:

1 C:\WINDOWS
select installation drive: 1
-------
enter administrator password: ??

I tried my setup password etc and "password" but nothing will work?! I also tried just hitting enter and that wouldn't work either.

Please help!

Thanks, John

Well if you can't figure out the password you could try resetting it with the offline nt password reset and registry editor boot disk.

Just wondering does your PC boot in safe mode? This nvata file sounds like its part of an nVidia driver.

NOOOOOOOO! Empty fixed

ok, I have fixed it, I installed a fresh copy of XP and it saved all the files. Nvata isn't associated with nVidia it is part of the PC apparently...
